Please read the following terms carefully. By participating in the Extern Referral Program, you agree to abide by these rules. Failure to comply may result in disqualification from receiving referral bonuses.
In order for a referral to be considered valid, the referred applicant must use the personalized referral link provided to them. Applications submitted without a referral link cannot be retroactively attributed to a referrer. If a referral does not appear in the system, the referral bonus is not eligible for payout. It is the referrer's responsibility to ensure their referral link is shared and used correctly.
A referral is only considered "converted" once the referred applicant has enrolled into the externship program and successfully completed the first project of their assigned program. Simply applying or being accepted does not qualify as a conversion. Referrers will not receive credit for referrals who drop out before completing their first project milestone.
Referral bonuses are paid out 3 weeks (21 calendar days) after the official start date of the externship corresponding to the referred applicant's enrollment. This waiting period ensures the referred participant has had sufficient time to engage with the program and complete the first project requirement. Payouts are processed via the payment method on file and may take an additional 3–5 business days to appear in your account.
Referrals must be individuals who have not previously applied to or participated in an Extern program. Self-referrals are not permitted. Extern reserves the right to disqualify referrals that appear fraudulent, duplicated, or in violation of these terms. Referrers may refer an unlimited number of unique applicants.
Extern reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the referral program at any time, with or without notice. Any disputes regarding referral eligibility, conversion status, or bonus payouts will be resolved at Extern's sole discretion. Decisions made by Extern regarding the referral program are final.
Each referral progresses through the following stages. You can track your referrals' current status in the My Referrals tab.
Your referral has entered the system and their application is currently moving through the review process. No action is needed from you at this time.
Your referral has submitted their application and is being evaluated. This includes video assessments and live interview stages.
Great news — your referral has received an offer to join the externship program! They haven't accepted it yet, so feel free to encourage them to take the next step.
Your referral has accepted their offer and is on track to join the program. They haven't officially enrolled yet, but things are looking good.
Your referral is officially enrolled and ready to begin their externship. Once they complete their first project, the referral will be marked as converted and your bonus clock starts.
This referral is no longer active. This may be due to the applicant declining the offer, being declined during the review process, or withdrawing their application. Cancelled referrals are not eligible for a referral bonus.

Upload a CSV file exported from Retool or any spreadsheet. The CSV should have headers matching:
referrer_id, referrer_name, referrer_email, referred_name, referred_email, status, source, created_at, converted_at, notes.
At minimum, each row needs a referrer_id.
Programs listed here appear in the referrer portal's Available Externships tab. Add or remove programs to control what referrers can generate links for.
Delete a referrer and all their associated referral records from the database.
